This past week when my man and I went for our walk to the beach and the city we saw something really cool!

We had our own personal National Geographic Moment.

It was birds fighting over a crab.

Now my man is awesome and a huge support in my business so he said to me, “How can you turn this into a post and make it about team?”  Then the brainstorm began.

As I watched the birds I realized we’re not all that different.

However, it’s not necessarily over food (well it depends on who you go to dinner with, sometimes it does gets aggressive) but an idea.

When a great idea appears we flock to it!  We pick at it.  We flip it over.  We refine it and we work at.

Sometimes this idea will emerge from your staff and others will pick at and refine it before it gets to you. Then someone implements.  This can turn into more time, more money, more freedom, and more recognition.  The point being, all of this stems from an idea.

A Few Questions for you?

When you hear an amazing idea do you take it and run with it?  Do you remember to acknowledge the person who came up with that great idea and tell them why it was great?  Do you share how this wonderful idea could help you shape and improve your business?

Do you assume the person who shared the idea is the originator? This is a tough one.  Sometimes it’s hard to know who truly came up with the idea in the first place.  However, did you even make the effort to find out?

Do you take the idea and run AWAY with it?  Do you take the idea and literally run away it.  This might appear as if you’re acting like the idea was yours alone.  This might sound like something only horrible people do.  However, when your business is moving really quickly, clients are coming in, and things are shifting this can happen very easily.

Running away with an idea can seem simple at first and it can be forgiven.  However, if this happens too often it could mean disgruntled staff, lost contractors, and if it goes too far a law suit.

Running away with an idea can be a lonely place as you fly off into the sunset.  In a knowledge economy ideas are everything.  Intellectual property law is there for a reason.

This week find someone who had an amazing idea and tell them WHY it was amazing?  You might make someone else’s week or even your own.

If you’re going to have success in your business and achieve your goals you’ll need a few essential pieces. For one, you need intense focus. When you’re focused on a particular outcome you’ve got to be ready to play full out and make a very deep commitment to getting results.

Next you need awareness. What are you doing right and how are you holding yourself back? If you don’t know this you can spend a lot of time working extremely hard with no results, a lot of exhaustion, and a feeling of emptiness inside – “what am I doing wrong?”

Once you’ve developed awareness, it’s all about self-mastery. Having awareness without making the necessary changes will not enhance your life. What are you aware of that you need to change right now?

And, finally it’s about time mastery. It’s about using your time effectively, making fast decisions and commitments and changing your mind slowly. To start getting fast results you’ve got to make fast decisions.
